Content Management Guide

How to add and edit products, collections, pages, and the rich content sections on your new site · Prepared by RevShift Media · June 2026 · v1.0

Read this first. Your new site shows product information in organized sections — a specs table, a "What's Included" list, feature cards, an FAQ, a compare table, and more. None of that lives in the old "description" box anymore. Instead, each piece of content has its own labelled field (called a metafield) that you fill in, and the site builds the section automatically. This guide shows you exactly which field feeds which section, the format to type it in, and a real example for each. The golden rule: if you leave a field blank, that section simply doesn't appear — so you only fill in what a product needs.

1 · How the new product pages work

Every product page is assembled from building blocks. Here's where each piece comes from:

On the pageComes from
Title & priceThe normal Shopify product fields
Short description (1–2 lines under the title)SRO · Short description metafield
Main description paragraphThe standard Shopify Description box — keep this to a short paragraph now
Spec chips, specs table, features, What's Included, FAQ, compare table, disclaimer, lead-timeIndividual metafields — covered below
Review starsJudge.me (automatic — never edit by hand)
Where you'll be working. Almost everything in this guide lives in one place: open a product (or collection), scroll to the bottom, and you'll see a Metafields section listing all the fields by name (they all start with SRO ·). That's your control panel.

2 · Adding a product — step by step

  1. Create the product the normal way. Admin → ProductsAdd product. Fill in Title, Price, Media (photos), Inventory, and the standard fields.
  2. Set the brand. In the Vendor field, enter the brand name (this drives the brand label and structured data). Set Product type too.
  3. Write a short Description. In the standard Description box, write just a short intro paragraph (2–4 sentences). All the lists, specs, and details go in the metafields below — not here.
  4. Leave the Theme template as Default product. The new design is the default — you don't need to pick anything.
  5. Scroll to Metafields and fill in the SRO fields the product needs (see the reference below). Skip any that don't apply — blank fields hide their section.
  6. Add it to the right collections (or rely on tags if the collection is automated), then Save.
  7. Preview the live page to confirm each section rendered the way you expect.
Reviews are automatic. You'll see two fields named Product rating and Product rating count. These are managed by the Judge.me reviews app — do not edit them by hand.

3 · Product field reference

Each field below shows its name in Shopify, whether it's required, the format to type, a real example, and what it does on the page. Formats matter — the separators (: and |) are how the site splits your text into columns.

Below-the-fold sections

FieldFormat & exampleWhat it does
SRO · Feature Highlights
optional
list · one feature per line
Format Title | Body (4–6 features)
Rugged Build | 1000D nylon shell rated for heavy field use. Modular Layout | Removable pouches reconfigure for any mission.
The feature-card grid. Tip: a line with no | still shows as a plain body line, but use Title | Body for the polished look.
SRO · Feature Highlights — Heading
optional
Plain text headline.
Why this kit, not a generic one
Optional headline above the feature grid. Blank = no headline.
SRO · Feature Highlights — Intro
optional · rich text
Short paragraph. Optional intro under the heading. Blank = hidden.
SRO · Kit Contents (What's Included)
optional
list · one item per line
Format Zone | Item | Qty

SRO · What's Included — Heading / Intro
optional
Text headline / rich-text paragraph. Optional headline and intro above the What's Included list.
SRO · Specs Table
optional
list · one row per line
Format Label : Value

SRO · FAQ Entries
optional
links to FAQ entries
Click Add and pick existing SRO · FAQ Entry items (you create those once — see §6). The accordion FAQ. FAQ entries are reusable, so one answer can be shared across many products.
SRO · Compare Family
optional
links to a Compare Family
Pick one SRO · Compare Family entry (see §6). The product must also be listed as a Member inside that family. Renders the side-by-side comparison table (e.g. comparing kit tiers). Leave blank for standalone products.
SRO · Disclaimer
optional
rich text
Safety, legal, or export notes.
⚠ For trained users only. By ordering you confirm you are authorized to use the contents.
The callout box at the bottom of the page. Blank hides it.

Availability & lead time

FieldFormat & exampleWhat it does
SRO · Fulfillment type
optional
choice
Leave blank for normal stocked items. Only set it to one of:
made_to_orderspecial_order
Blank = the page shows In Stock / Low / Out of Stock automatically from your Shopify inventory. Only set this for items that aren't inventory-driven (built or sourced per order).
SRO · Lead-time override
optional · text (HTML ok)
Ships in <strong>4–6 weeks</strong> from order
Overrides the lead-time line in the availability block. Leave blank to use the automatic copy.
SRO · Lead-time secondary note
optional · text
Short caveat.
Export-controlled — verification required before ship.
Small secondary line under the availability row.
You rarely need all of them. A simple accessory might use only Short description + Quick specs + a few Features. A flagship kit uses everything. Fill what fits; leave the rest blank.

4 · Adding a collection — step by step

  1. Create the collection. Admin → Products → Collections → Create collection. Give it a title and choose Manual (you pick products) or Automated (products matching conditions/tags join automatically).
  2. Add a collection image in the sidebar — it's used as the tile image when this collection is featured elsewhere.
  3. Leave the Theme template as the default. Every collection automatically uses the RevShift collection design. (You don't need to select default-revshift — the default already renders it.)
  4. Scroll to Metafields and fill in the SRO collection fields you want (see below). All optional.
  5. Save, then preview the live collection page.

5 · Collection field reference

FieldFormat & exampleWhat it does
SRO · SEO Content
optional · rich text
An editorial blurb. Add internal links to sibling categories and key products for SEO. The SEO/editorial paragraph shown below the product grid. Great for search ranking.
SRO · FAQ Entries
optional · links to FAQ entries
Click Add and pick SRO · FAQ Entry items (§6). The category FAQ section on the collection page. Blank = no FAQ section (it stays hidden, no empty space).
SRO · Sister Collections
optional · list of collections
Click Add and pick other collections, in the order you want them shown. The "Also in this Category" rail of related sub-collections. Tile images pull from each linked collection automatically.
SRO · Brand Collections
optional · list of collections
Pick the brand collections to feature. Renders a "Brands We Carry" tile grid below the blurb. Title, product count, and link auto-pull from each.
SRO · Brand Tagline
optional · text
Short sublabel.
Folders & Fixed Blades
Set this on a brand collection. It's the small line under the brand name in the Brands grid.
SRO · Popular Searches
optional · links to a Popular Searches entry
Pick one SRO · Popular Searches entry (§6). A row of clickable search-term chips for internal linking.
SRO · Promo Card
optional · links to a Promo Card entry
Pick one SRO · Promo Card entry (§6). A promotional card placed inside the product grid. Overrides the site-wide promo for this category.

6 · Reusable content — FAQ entries, Compare Families, Popular Searches, Promo Cards

Some content is reusable across many products or collections, so you create it once in its own library and then link to it from the product/collection metafields above. You'll find these libraries under:

Admin → Content → Metaobjects → pick the type → Add entry.

SRO · FAQ Entry used by products & collections

FieldNotes
Question requiredThe question as a customer would ask it.
Answer required · rich textThe answer. Bold, links, and short lists are fine.
Parent SKU optionalFor your own admin organization only — doesn't show on the site.

To use it: open a product or collection → Metafields → SRO · FAQ EntriesAdd → pick the entries. The same answer can be reused everywhere — edit it once, it updates everywhere.

SRO · Compare Family used by products

Defines a side-by-side comparison table (e.g. comparing kit tiers). You build the family, then point each member product's SRO · Compare Family field at it.

FieldNotes
Family name requiredEyebrow label above the table (e.g. "LYNX Survival Kits").
Headline requiredThe section heading (e.g. "Pick the kit that fits your mission.").
Intro optionalSupporting paragraph below the headline.
Members required · list of productsThe products being compared, in left-to-right column order.
Member labels optionalCustom column names. Same count as Members. Blank = uses product titles.
Recommended index optionalWhich column to highlight, counting from 0 (so the 2nd column = 1). Blank = no highlight.
Rows required · list of Compare RowsThe comparison rows — create these as SRO · Compare Row entries (below) and add them in order.

SRO · Compare Row

FieldNotes
Label requiredThe row label in the leftmost column (e.g. "Rated Duration").
Values required · listOne value per member, same order as Members. Use for "not included".
Emphasis optionalRender hint: check = green ✓, dash = muted —, text = plain (default).
Order matters. Every row's Values list must be the same length and order as the family's Members — value #1 lines up with member #1, and so on.

SRO · Popular Searches used by collections

A row of clickable search-term chips. One Group Name (the heading) plus up to 9 term/URL pairs (Term 1 + URL 1, Term 2 + URL 2, …). Fill only as many pairs as you need.

SRO · Promo Card used by collections (or site-wide)

FieldNotes
Heading / SubheadingThe card's text.
Description · rich textOptional body copy.
Image / Image (Mobile)Card artwork — supply a mobile version for best results.
Button Label / Button URLThe call-to-action.
Accent ColorCard accent.
Active From / Active UntilOptional schedule — the card auto-appears and disappears between these dates.

7 · Pages & templates

Content pages (FAQ, Government Sales, About, Contact, etc.) use special designs. When you create or edit a page, set its design in the right sidebar:

Admin → Online Store → Pages → open the page → right sidebar Theme template dropdown.

PageChoose this template
FAQ pagefaq
Government / Agency salesgovernment-sales
Aboutabout
Contactcontact
Customer carecustomer-care
Find a storefind-a-store
Any standard pageDefault page
For products, leave the template on Default product; for collections, leave it on the default. Both already use the RevShift design — you never need to change them.

8 · Format cheat-sheet

These separators are how the site turns your typed text into structured layouts. Get them right and everything renders cleanly.

When you see…Type it asExample
Quick specs / Specs TableLabel : ValueWeight : 2.1 lb
Feature HighlightsTitle | BodyRugged Build | 1000D nylon shell.
Kit ContentsZone | Item | QtyFirst Aid | Trauma module | ×1
Compare Row valuesone per member, for none12 hrs, 24 hrs, 72 hrs
List fields: each line is one entry — press Enter / click Add for a new one. Spacing around the separator ( : and | ) is forgiving, but keep the separator itself.
